The Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma was established in 2005 and it has become the largest evening event of its kind in the United States supporting melanoma education and research. It is a unique run/walk that takes place in the evening to keep participants out of the sun’s harsh daytime ultraviolet rays.
The purpose of the race is to involve communities, provide educational information about skin cancer prevention, and to generate financial support through sponsorships, donations, and registration fees. One hundred percent of the donations from the Race are directly used for melanoma research and education programs.
