Sprint Course
The swim is an out and back from the beach. We will have a line of pontoons and buoys stretching out into the lake with lifeguards and others on each to spot any swimmers in trouble. You will start on the left hand side and swim out to; and swim through a break in the line then returning back to the beach on the right side of the pontoons. Once on the beach it is a short run (250') up a small incline to the first transition area. You will grab your bike and run to the mounting mat and receive your first time record as you hit the bike route.
The bike route is a straight shot out of the park. The first 2.5 miles is all climbing, but then you get to the designated turnaround point and get to ride down hill for the next 2.3 miles. Then you hit the last .2 miles a short steep hill up to the Transition #2 (this made some people though up last year) to put burn into your legs prior to the run.
The Run Route will have your legs carry you back down the hill that you just biked up and run the length of the park and the lake, back to the beach area finishing at the first timing mat.

The bike route is a straight shot out of the park. The first 4 miles is all climbing, then race towards Highland and into the hills that this area is known for (welcome to Glacier Valley). After that first bit of climbing you get to follow ridge tops and river valley until mile 14. Then we find out what you are made of. 5 miles of straight climbs, false tops, and rollers will put a hurt into some of the best breathless on Sept 4. but for those that survive the last 6 miles is down hill into the park. But wait we have added a short steep hill in the last .2 miles up to the Transition #2 just to put burn into your legs prior to the run.
The Run Route is entirely new this year. It will be a 6+ mile cross country route around the entire lake. All the trails are dirt/grass not limestone, or gravel. One small section will be on public road in order to cross a bridge, but then it is back into the park. You will run through fields, woods, prairie grass, across bridges and dams, and of course along the lake back to the transition #1 mat at the beach.
